Pauper Cemetery, Franklin County TN

Past Winchester Springs, down Little Hurricane Road on Mitchell’s Bluff, the historic Franklin County Pauper Cemetery sits at 35.2195°N, -86.1980°W.

I’ve not been there but, from the photo above, it’s clear someone has been– and furthermore, that someone has made a sign for the place.

Not far away is the Little Hurricane Cemetery, located by the church of the same name, but this is a different place.

I have no idea how one would get there–drive down and walk? Or perhaps kayak out? But for some reason, I think it would be intriguing to see.

Update: in fact, there is a Find A Grave website for this cemetery, which lists at least four graves. At least three of these are not paupers, but in fact were movedby the TVA from another graveyrd that was due to be flooded by the constuction of Tim’s Ford Lake. From one of the pictures online, it looks like there are several other grave markers that have not been photographed.
